Course Objectives This course aims to introduce and teach film criticism and methods which are an important element in the evaluation of the cinema art.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Will be able to describe the film critique notion and its characteristics,
  • Will be able to describe the basic approaches to film analysis,
  • Will be able to use approaches like historical, auteur, semiotic, sociological, ideological, psychoanalytic and feminist criticism,
  • Will be able to analyze film using basic film analysis approaches,
  • Will be able to write an original critique of the films that they analyzed.
Course Content It includes the approach of film criticism, historical criticism, auteur criticism, semiotical criticism, sociological criticism, ideological criticism, psychoanalytic criticism and feminist criticism.
